The Schiit stack does what it does extremely well, it gives you audio exactly (or damn close, in more precise terms) as it is mixed, no "secret sauce" to bring out footsteps, correct bass/treble, or add positional audio - it will sound as good as the source audio does.Īudio is highly subjective, if you like the sound of your soundblaster better, use it! Lots of headphone enthusiasts use "gaming" DACs with nice headphones - others (like myself) prefer the unadulterated sound the schiit stack produces - there isn't a wrong answer here - much like people who use tube amps aren't doing it because they're more accurate, they're just nicer to listen to. These technologies don't exist because they're bad, they do change the sound, but if that is a positive for you, then there's no reason to doubt your ears.
